On the second day of our trip, my sister and I did an all-day bus tour to the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare. It was absolutely spectacular and filled with a many different views and a ton of historic and fascinating information (from our tour guide).
O’Brien’s Tower is a small, but gorgeous piece of architecture. It was amazing how you could see it from all points of the path along the cliffside of the Cliffs of Moher. It serves its purpose as a watch tower and the highest point of the Cliffs. It was built by the local landlord and MP Sir Cornelius O’Brien. I really love this photograph for the contrast between the tower and the sky. I believe it makes O’Brien’s Tower pop and it helps make it the center of attention in the photograph.
The driver for the tour to the Cliffs of Moher made a quick stop along The Wild Atlantic Way to give his customary two apples to the donkeys that are by the road. He says he does this whenever he’s on this tour. Their coats were really gorgeous, and it was nice to see them prancing around 🙂
As I mentioned in my previous story, I started a photo series of doors on this trip. This series was something that I’ve always wanted to do. It’s nothing too special, but I took a picture of 15 different doors throughout this 10-day trip in Ireland and Scotland. I’ve always loved architecture, and I grew up with my mother always pointing out how nicely the walls were made in a city or how nice different architecture was. My mother grew up in France, so whenever we visited this would be a topic of conversation, especially when we visited the older villages and castles. I thought she would enjoy this series a lot. Below you will see four photographs that are a part of this series.
