Tourists from all over the world go to Rome with the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and the Roman Forum at the top of their bucket lists. And I’ve got to say, the Roman Forum is pretty cool. One of, if not the coolest thing I’ve seen since being here. Every ruin looks different, from intricate buildings to statues of people, grand pillars, carved rocks, elaborately muraled walls, places of worship, and arching structures that nod at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. I visited this riveting city yesterday with a friend (minors can enter for free) and I’m planning on returning, for I feel that I could go every day and notice new things each time. It’s very hot in Rome during the summer so I recommend — especially with the piles of people visiting the Forum with you — that you either bring a cold drink or buy one at the site’s cafe. Be on the lookout for Granite, a Sicilian slushy you can find in the neighborhood that I found perfect for retaining my energy.
